Brief description of massage types:
Swedish: skin will be lubricated with various massage strokes. These movements warm up the muscle tissue, subdue tension & gradually breaking up muscle “knots” or adhered tissues, called adhesion. Swedish massage promotes relaxation, among other health benefits.
Deep: focuses on realigning deeper layers of muscles & connective tissue. It is especially helpful for chronic aches, pains & contracted areas, such as stiff neck, upper back, low back pain, leg muscle tightness & sore shoulders. Some of the same strokes are used as Swedish massage, but the movement is slower & the pressure is deeper & concentrated on areas of tension & pain in order to reach the sub-layer of muscles & the fascia (connective tissue surrounding muscles.)
Sports: originally developed to help athletes prepare their bodies for optimal performance, recover after a big event, or function well during training. Sports massage <<<>>>> & healing of injuries to the muscles and tendons. You don’t have to be athlete to benefit from sports massage. Sports massage can also benefit people with injuries, chronic pain or restricted range of motion. The therapist generally concentrates on a specific problem area, like Sore neck & shoulders etc.
